In the spring semester of Spanish IV, I assign a food project called “Es Tiempo de Cocinar.” Students pick a recipe from their own cultural or family traditions and they teach the class how to make it u唱 only Spanish. There are many props and students get very creative. After everyone presents, they share the food they made with the class. This is one of my favorite projects because students share their cultures and they speak only in the target language. Students often say, “This was fun! Can we do this project again?”

 

My favorite school tradition is Mary’s Day. It brings everyone together. The school has a beautiful campus already, but on this day, it is transformed into something magical. 在这一天, the whole community comes together to celebrate, 唱, 舞蹈和, 当然, 一起吃饭. The students all learn the same dance! It is incredible to see 500 students doing the same dance on the quad. We all look forward to Mary’s Day!

 

I have taught at 完美的心 for a long time, and one of the things I recognized right away was its diverse environment. The students at 完美的心 truly embrace getting to know and accepting others. It is part of the culture at 完美的心. It is part of what makes this place special.
